I wrote and published a book in 2012 called “365 Prayer Prescriptions For Dog And Cat Lovers.” I pulled it out today and yes there are actually 365 prayer prescriptions from day one to day at 365.

The book was dedicated to Jessica, age 10. Jessica is a lover of animals. She is one who tends to a bird with a broken wing or a rodent, a wounded leg.

She has what I call “the Saint Francis Affect.” This means animals love Jessica as much as she loves them. They seek her out for comfort.

Tomaso also exhibited the same quality with birds, squirrels, owls, dogs and cats. And fish! Let us not forget Swimmy.

When our furry friends die, the world expects us to immediately return to the commerce of life and living.

If we see our companion friends unexpectedly at the door or at our feet after she passes beyond the veil, we may not share this otherworldly event for fear of criticism. Or worse, for fear others will think we’re crazy.

We may dream of our furry whiskered beast and keep the vision locked deeply inside our grieving heart.

Jessica‘s family had a dog who was on his deathbed. In the South Carolina town where they lived, another dog wandered the streets, begging for food from house to house. He was loved by all.

The day the family dog died, the family had gathered and were telling stories about the love they had for their dog. Suddenly, a knock at the door revealed the town dog. He came in, laid down to respectfully listen to their tales (tails) of love and admiration.

When the stories ended, the dear fella got up, and continued his daily trek from door to door.

No one in the family ever forgot it. OM
