Friends With Death

December 31, 2020

Is death finally coming out of the closet? 338,000 people died as of yesterday here in America as all of us have come face-to-face with our own mortality in the CV19 pandemic. This has changed many a perspective towards balance and away from misplaced goals and distraction. How many have made friends with the impermanence inherent in these times? How many have turned off the screeching news to reconnect with the awakening taking place throughout the planet?

Has the fear of death dissipated or become more pronounced? Perhaps the fear is giving away to more curiosity as to what gifts death can bestow. Grief is a major component to the 2020 Odyssey. Grief has the potential to break the heart of love wide-open, or can cause the flow of love to shut down. I’ve seen the latter with my experiences with Tomaso‘s family. Grief is a relentless teacher.

“The Great Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences.

When love and hate are both absent, everything becomes clear and undisguised.

Make the smallest distinction, however, and Heaven and earth are set infinitely apart.

If you wish to see the truth then hold no opinion for or against.

The struggle of what one likes and what one dislikes is the disease of the mind.”

The Third Chinese Patriarch of Zen

There is no reason in this world or any other world why we can’t be reborn to a new way of seeing and being, right now, in this instant. A Course In Miracles calls it “the holy instant,” guided by the Holy Spirit. Whatever it is, Love guides all such transformations without judgement or grievance.

When we become friends with Love, we’ve made friends with death and our own immortality of the soul. OM
