Lasso Watch Party

November 3, 2021

I belong to a meditation app called 10% Happier. About six months ago, the app presented a 5 day Ted Lasso Challenge. The instructions were to meditate on kindness, as presented by short clips from the show. Dan Harris, the app creator, said it wasn’t necessary to see the show, although I wanted to see it after the 5 day challenge was over.

When I got a new iPhone, I was offered a free three month subscripton to AppleTV, where Ted Lasso season 1 and 2 is available.

The show is pure genius. It combines soccer, teamwork, kindness and compassion during every 40 minute segment. What I love most about the show is everyone’s propensity to forgive, like it is the only choice, not a last resort.

The show begins with overriding contempt the characters have for each other and the world.

But the Ted Lasso effect changes everything.

Ted Lasso is by no means a perfect human. We learn early on, for instance, of marital problems and Ted’s controversial way to coach a game he knows nothing about.

Tomorrow evening, I am hosting a Ted Lasso Watch Party in my home. My A Course In Miracles friends are coming, plus a few others who need an extra lift to their spirit.

The goal of A Course In Miracles is forgiveness and Love at every juncture, every bend in the road, every difficult situation. Each moment is a forgiveness opportunity. The trick is to remind each other, as we tell our stories, that only Love is real.

Ted Lasso is a wonderful example of Love in action. OM
