Call The Capital

January 18, 2021

I just called our Pennsylvania Senators urging them to vote to impeach and indict tRump this week. Thank God for Jamie Raskin whose son committed suicide at the very end of December 2020 and who leads the charge to hold tRump accountable.

Additionally, Representative Raskin had his family with him the day the electoral votes were being counted in favor of Joe Biden, when the right wing insurgency came within inches of killing the rest of his family. His fervor to impeach should inform our own.

I have a list of all the Republican Senators and tomorrow will call them. Today is a bit short on time, and Pearl and I have an obligation to get moving and enjoy our day. In fact, she keeps lifting her head to ask when will we please go so she can chase a few rabbits and squirrels on our 5 to 7 mile walk together.

Here is the phone number for the US Capitol: 1-202-224–3121.

Politics and our spiritual life need not be a divergent pathway. We can do both in a spirit of love and conviction.

What is our protection from tyranny? One of our founding principles is e pluribus unum “unity in diversity.” What makes you seemingly different from me should not make you a suspect. We are all Americans. When we forget that freedom belongs to all Americans makes anyone of us vulnerable to exactly what happened 1/6/2021. Our government is here to make us safe and to remind us that we are all created equal. The moral force of our democracy need not be lost.

If we don’t impeach/indict tRump for his call to arms against our country, we will undoubtedly see him and his cohorts like Cruz et al think they can pull off another take over.

The next time they could easily succeed. OM
