Impeachment

January 13, 2021

It finally happened— America is now the police state many have predicted for most of my life. They would argue this constricting atmosphere has existed for years. Living in Washington DC, as many do, must be paramount to a chaotic nightmare. The entire military has taken over the US capital. Naturally, it had to happen. The POTUS is insane and still will do anything to maintain power.

How can any of this be controversial? America is like a guy on the edge of a cliff with an infant daughter in his arms, about to throw away his life and that of his daughter. What stories are we telling ourselves in the face of seeming insurmountable difficulties? Our citizens are in a state of turmoil. They are allowing unrelenting fear to consume their personal reality, whatever side they happen to find themselves.

As I watch these impeachment proceedings, there is an overriding moral sense rising to the surface: those who are still on the side of the president are skewed in their perspective. Their strange common denominator is to cause confusion in anyone’s mind who listens to their logic, because they are culpable for what happened, too. They don’t want to impeach Trump. If we don’t, someone else will rise to take his place. If we don’t, it’s a wink wink to the powers that be to continue the status quo of power grabs and silencing the voices of the citizens, who overwhelmingly want Trump to be impeached. The citizens also overwhelmingly voted Trump out of office. Trump would not accept the will of the people. He incited hate at every rally he ever gave and now we’ve come to the edge of the precipice, a slow moving wreck that spectacularly ended in murder and mayhem.

We must not get entrapped by the prison of the mind, taking sides, throwing those who disagree out of our hearts. But this is exactly what is happening.

Time to double down on my meditation efforts. OM
