JOURNEY OF THE HAND WRITTEN LETTER

February 1, 2022

The box of letters has become an inspiration. In yesterday‘s post, I describe a letter written by my brother to my sister, nearly 50 years ago.

I discussed the letter with my A Course In Miracles group on today’s Facebook Messenger. Our “A Course In Miracles” lesson today is, “I have invented the world I see.”

The only reality is love and everything else is a mirage of the ego. The course also says, “I am preoccupied with my past thoughts,“ which are made up of human emotions not worth concentrating on, because those thoughts often are anything but loving.

As I picked through the letters this morning, I remembered after our commune experience in the early 1970s, that brother Delaney and wife Jala secured housing our realtor mother found for them. Her stipulation was that they could live there as long as I did not live there, too.

I was homeless for many months, sleeping on one couch for a while before moving onto the next. Those experiences taught me how to live on the fly, by the seat of my pants. I could have felt lonely and abandoned, but I did not.

But I invented those stories from the past. At the time I was living simply, in a penniless reality. I don’t recall belaboring feelings of resentment. I learned to live from moment to moment. “Be Here Now” had just been published and I lived the words in the book then and ever after.

The newspaper picture shown here fell out of one of the envelopes in the box. The picture was in the Lancaster Newspaper at the time of Delaney and Jala's departure to Norfolk Virginia. The headline was, "Theater Guru leaves Lancaster."

I sent the clipping to my sister at the time in 1995 and she just sent it back to me, 2022. OM
