STEP 3 RECOVERY

January 6, 2022

“Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understand Him.”

Can I alone straighten out my own life? Step 3 admits “I need help.” People often stop at this step. They think they are in control of their lives. This approach leads to an egocentric world view. I’ve heard people say, “God is my co-pilot.” That is of the ego. Rather “God is my pilot,” allows spirit to direct our lives.

Step 1 says, I am powerless over a problem I am in the process of acknowledging.

Step 2 says, my problems will dissipate when I allow a Higher Power into my life.

Step 3 says, I will ask my Higher Power, however I define this power, to lead me to green pastures, to restore the recognition of soul that is beyond 3 D reality.

Steps 1, 2, 3 prepares the way for the inventory steps to come, which include reflection and contemplation of past so called mistakes. Mistakes are transformed whenever we take responsibility for them.

Step 3 is an entry point to spiritual practice. So I no longer drink alcohol, or watch the toxic news cycle, but I must heal the self hate to self love available to me, once I integrate a program of recovery into every moment of my life.

Am I willing to be teachable? Am I willing to be open? Am I willing to be free?
