BIRTH BED VIGILS

April 30, 2021

The mystical experience of patient-care is a wonderful topic for numinous contemplation. Certainly, it would help health-care professionals rethink their style of caring. We need not think of ourselves as needing to "fix" our patients. We simple work on clearing out our own inner world, and the rest takes care of itself. The moment at hand is subtle, with a multi-dimensional aura of healing opportunity. Heal thyself, and celebrate the life we share as One!

As the labor and delivery nurse on duty, I was assisting with the birth of a child, when the beautiful song, “Somewhere over the Rainbow, What a Wonderful World,” by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, played melodiously – and all of us there prayerfully ushered this new soul into this world. This is an example of True Riches. The Pot Of Gold is, indeed, at the end of the rainbow – first in the mind as an idea, then as a vision as in this song, and then as a manifestation of our true desires beamed with love to all the world.

Yet it all begins in the mind as awareness, an impression and a daydream. The trick is to release the vision, allowing it to transform our lives, like a baby transforms as she comes bursting into the physical world.

Early this morning, a baby was born literally with a smile on her face. She had ruby-red lips and a life-giving cry, then the smile. I saw her smile again as I performed the tasks she needed completed before transfer.  The beautiful thing about my job is the peek into eternity I receive every time I gaze into the eyes of a newborn babe. The ones who are born fast into this world show an eagerness to live that is unparalleled in most experiences we see today. These souls come bounding into the world with enthusiasm and grace. They know exactly what they signed up for, even though this memory fades quickly.

The brainwashing begins immediately. Yet at some point, I pray that these babies remember again why they were so eager to receive all the blessings they knew they deserved at the time of birth. I pray that they remember and live this truth far, far before the death-bed vigil because this is when so many Beings remember again why they are here – to love simply, bask in the light of Love and share this with everyone. There is no other reason to live.

This alone gives sustenance and a breath into a new life. OM
